As a dentist, I take my profession very seriously. I understand and accept the responsibilities that come with being a healthcare provider. I understand that people rely on my ability to address oral health concerns and provide quality care that is backed by science.
I am very passionate about dentistry and I try to express that with each interaction with my patients. I’m outgoing and a people-person, which helps me connect with individuals, as I encourage them to talk with me and the team about their expectations and concerns. When a patient understands that we are really listening, that we will respect their desires and find solutions that work for their situation, it builds trust, and that is important for all of us.
A Washington, DC native, I appreciate serving this diverse and dynamic community. Working with people from unique backgrounds, each with experiences, knowledge, and insights to share, helps me to understand different aspects of my patients. It also helps me to continue to grow and learn as a dentist and as a person.
It’s these conversations and connections with my patients that give me the greatest happiness. What could be more rewarding than helping people I care about enjoy happier and healthier lives, each with a wonderful smile they’re confident to share?
Experience and Education
My paternal grandmother was a dental assistant and she motivated me to join the field. I have been a Dental Assistant , Registered Dental Hygienist , Dental Hygiene Instructor, and now have practiced dentistry for over ten years. My education has included:
- Howard University, Registered Dental Hygienist
- University of Maryland, Bachelor of Science
- Howard University College of Dentistry, Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS)
- Bronx Lebanon Hospital, General Practice Residency
Having worked in the dental field for over 25 years, I can honestly say I love oral healthcare and helping people by contributing to their healthy mouths and beautiful smiles!
Continuing Education
Dentistry, like all areas of healthcare, is a constantly advancing field. Research leads to greater knowledge, innovative technologies, and changes in materials and methodologies. Through active continuing professional education – participating in study groups and mentorships, attending meetings, and taking courses – I stay current with changes in the field. This allows me to offer patients updated treatment options, grounded in evidence-based science, and provides innovative ideas that keep me engaged and excited.
Beyond the Practice
Away from the office, above all else I treasure being with my family: my husband, three children, grandson, and our dog and cat. I love listening to live music, watching movies, exploring and enjoying parks, and relaxing time at the beach. I am an avid reader, too.
